Why this portal exists
Vital Strategies works towards a world where everyone, everywhere is protected by equitable and effective public health systems. Better data is how that happens: governments, researchers, journalists, and civil society need the numbers behind tobacco use, road crashes, air pollution, overdose deaths, and vital events — in a form they can actually use. This portal publishes those datasets openly, with the metadata needed to trust and cite them.

How this portal works
Datasets are served live from a CKAN catalog. Search and dataset pages read directly from that catalog, so what you see here stays in step with what programme teams publish. Every dataset links back to its original record and a machine-readable API endpoint. The portal also ships an AI assistant that answers questions about the catalog in plain language and builds charts from the data on the fly.
